Beer Kitchen

Beer Kitchen in Westport located just off of Wesport Road and Pennsylvania, in Kansas City. It’s a place that I have never really desired to go in for some reason. Although, I heard a lot of great things, so one Sunday after church we went to Beer Kitchen.

The thing that I really enjoy a lot about this place is that you can get beers at a smaller amount, so you can enjoy different ones. This option is only available to those on draft. I opted for the Boulevard Reverb Imperial Pilsner. A local brew with flavor profile of “lemon grass, slight bubblegum, lightly sweet, but perfectly balanced with oomph.” When I tried it, the “slight bubblegum,” to me was quite over powering. Other than that it was good, just not sure if that one was the beer choice for me, that night.

I got the Veggie Cheatloaf for dinner. It had a chipotle-tomato glaze, crispy fried jalepeno straws, buttermilk mashed potatoes, and shitake mushroom gravy. It sounded amazing, the taste on the other hand, was not what I was expecting. Although, I can not make the assumption that a vegetarian meatloaf is going to taste anything similar to a meatloaf. It was dry to me, almost tasted like card board, but combining the loaf with the mashed potatoes and gravy it was delicious and filling for $12.

My friend got the Beer Kitchen Classic burger. It was burger with tillamook aged cheddar, caramelized onion, roma tomatoes, butter, lettuce, homemade pickle and a “secret sauce” on a brioche bun. My friend said it was “pretty good,” although basically saying no better than your average finer dining restaurant. For $8.50, it was a great burger.

As a side, we shared an order of the Belgian Style Fries. With a trio of dipping sauces: Roasted Garlic, Basil Vinnegraise, and Sweet Thai Chili. These fries were amazing, as well as their homemade ketchup that they have. They have two options, a small order is $4 and a larger order is $6.

So altogether, for the ambiance and the food, it was a great experience and I can not wait to go back. Their beer selection is amazing, so if you are a beer consumer, I say, check this place out. I have heard good things about their Mac and Cheese, so I can not wait to go back to try it. Expect to around $20 for your meal, this includes the meal, fries, a drink, and plus a tip.

Cheers.
