Towards the end of the summer and the fall, there was a local bakery that creates these beautiful bread goodness. Off of 17th and Summit, there is a bakery called Fervere. If you haven’t heard of this bakery, you should definitely order some of this artisan bread from Fred and his team of bakers. During these Saturday nights, they only sold one bread but in many forms. The Cheese Slipper. It absolutely deserves a sentence of it’s own. It is that delicious. This description comes from Fred, “Our Cheese Slipper is a light crispy ciabatta embedded with smoky cheddar pieces and topped with garlic cheese curds, providing intense flavor and a rich texture.” Sound amazing? Cause it is.

Saturday nights don’t provide you with your average cheese slippers, you have the options of Heirloom Tomatoes, Campo Lindo Egg, Mushroom, and Pear and Brie. My friends and I love the Heirloom Tomatoes, it is heirloom tomatoes, basil, with fontina, provolone, and kasseri cheeses. The Mushroom is awesome as well, with mushroom, red onion, fresh basil with gorgonzola, provolone, and kasseri cheeses. In the pictures above there are the Heirloom Tomato, and the Pear and Brie. The Pear and Brie contains brie, pear, with cinnamon, walnuts, and sage. Except I got mine without nuts, because I am allergic to tree nuts.

This is currently not happening this winter, but is expected to pop up again in the spring. It happened previously on Saturday nights from 6:30p to 10p, or til they ran  out. Each Cheese Slipper is baked fresh, and takes about 10-15 minutes.

After receiving your cheese slippers, I say go around the corner to Little Freshie and get a latte, pour over, or their lemonade that recently got voted Kansas City’s best lemonade!
