Burrito Brothers

The snowpocalypse has hit Kansas City, and with 10 inches on the ground and with another 5 – 8 inches this weekend Kansas City is basically on shut down. Although there are still restaurants still open serving those within walking distance from their homes. Last month I just moved to the River Market and I have yet to go adventures to see what is around this area. I always come out to the River Market for the Farmer’s Market. While on Facebook, the City Market Facebook page listed places that were open today. Burrito Brothers was one of them. I figured today was a perfect day to walk over and get a huge burrito!

It is right in the City Market on the west side under the awning near the center. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a loud hello and smile from Scott, one of the owners. I ordered the carnitas burrito with rice, black beans, cheese, sour cream pico de gallo, and a hot hot sauce containing five different peppers. One thing that I love was that they had a steamer that Scott would put the tortilla in but added the cheese so it was creamy and melted. Essentially this was like Chipotle or Free Birds, but better in my opinion. You could tell it was made with love, and Scott was willing to change things to make sure it was something that you wanted. This huge burrito also comes with homemade tortilla chips that are freshly made that day.

Scott and his wife opened Burrito Brothers in the River Market in October of 2008. They definitely have a heart for this part of Kansas City and it shows. Their hours are currently 11:00 a.m. til 3:00 p.m., but plan to expand their hours in the spring for the residents in the River Market. They are also expanding their space next door which is so exciting for them.

These burritos were delicious and can not wait to go back for another.
