Blue Koi

Blue Koi located on West 39th Street, in Kansas City, Missouri, is an Asian restaurant. The interior design is extremely cute. It has that sense that you are in your apartment, enjoying dinner at home. It’s a very welcoming experience. The menu to me seemed to be on the smaller side. What food they did have, had a ton of flavor.

My friend got the Almond Chicken for $13. It was a garlic marinated chicken breast sauteed with fresh asparagus, mayonnaise, and sun dried tomatoes. It looked beautiful, and a ton of food. It was all placed on a bed of rice. My friend said, “yum,” and “the ginger was delightful.” There were a ton of chicken and the chicken were cut into bigger chunks and were juicy and not over cooked.

Then I got 2 appetizers as my meal. I had the eggplant pockets for $7.50. They were “lightly crispy eggplant filled with vegan stuffing and organic tofu. Served with a raw-garlic sauce.” The eggplant was delicious, except they were like balls of fire. Not in a spicy way, but in a “I just fried these” sort of way. If you were to get these, I would recommend cutting them in half and letting them cool. The raw-garlic sauce was strong, and that’s coming from someone that loves garlic. I think I would recommend to the restaurant that it should be sauteed garlic, so it would not be so over powering, or add less.

I also had the Crispy Tofu with a Spicy Awesome Sauce for $5. It was perfectly fried tofu. It was such a nice texture of the tofu. The dipping sauce was as the name said it would be, AWESOME! I would seriously just go back and buy some of the awesome sauce and dip my fries in them.

Blue Koi, off West 39th Street, is a great place for great food and a ton of it for the price. Expect to pay about $15 for my two appetizers and a tip.
